Google Pixel & Pixel XL Smartphones: Specs, Price, Release Date

Google launched its flagship smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL at an event in San Francisco. Pixel smartphones are the first Google-branded smartphones i.e. these smartphones are designed by Google. Pixel smartphones will go live for pre-orders from October 13 in India at a starting price of Rs.57,000.

It’s the first smartphone that comes with Google Assistant built-in. Google Assistant helps you manage your tasks, you can ask almost anything to Google Assistant, you can translate on-the-go, you can also find photos more faster, and much more. Google Assistant is just like your personal assistant.

Talking about other features, Pixel smartphone comes in two different screen sizes, one with 5-inch FHD AMOLED display, while Pixel XL features 5.5-inch quad-HD AMOLED display. Pixel smartphones also sports Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection to make the devices more durable.




Google claims that Pixel smartphones has the highest rated smartphone camera and is capable of taking photos in low light, bright light, or in any light. Both the smartphones sports 12.3MP rear camera with Sony IMX378 sensor, PDAF, and a large f/2.0 aperture. On the other side, the smartphones features 8MP front facing camera with Sont IMX179 sensor, and an f/2.4 aperture.

Now with Google Pixel smartphones, you have unlimited storage to store all your photos and videos via Google Photos. Both the smartphones comes in 32GB and 128GB storage variants. Both the smartphones are powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip, with two-cores clocked at 1.59GHz and other two at 2.15GHz. All the specification are identical between the two devices except screen size and battery.

The smartphones comes with LPDDR4 4GB RAM. Pixel smartphones are also equipped with fingerprint sensor. You can also swipe on the fingerprint sensor to view notifications instantly. The smartphones runs on Android 7.1 Nougat, Google’s latest Android OS. Unlike Apple, Google has kept the 3.5mm audio jack and comes with USB C-type support. For any support, you can call Google’s toll free customer care number 24×7. You also have access to more than 54 service centres across 30 cities in India.

The 32GB Pixel smartphone variant is priced at $649 (appx. Rs.Rs.43,000) while its 128GB variant will cost you $749 (appx. Rs.50,000). On the other hand, Pixel XL smartphone with 32GB storage has been priced at $769 (appx. Rs.51,000) and for 128GB you have to pay $869 (appx. Rs.58,000). Pixel smartphones are already up for pre-orders in US, Australia, Canada, Germany, and UK via Verizon and Google Store.

Pixel smartphones will be available exclusively in Black, Silver, and Blue (limited edition) color variants. Blue color Pixel smartphone may not be available in India. Pixel smartphone sports 2770mAh battery while Pixel XL smartphone sports 3450mAh battery. Google claims that Pixel smartphone can run for up to 7 hrs on 15 minutes charge.

Google also unveiled Daydream VR headset, Google Wi-fi, Chromecast Ultra with 4K HDR. Google also unveild the price for its Google Home.

Indian citizen will be available to pre-order Pixel smartphones from October 13. The phones will be available on Flipkart, Reliance Digital, Croma and other authorized retailers.
