The much awaited bike from Bajaj, Dominar 400, has now been officially unveiled at an event with an starting price of Rs. 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The top model has been priced at Rs. 1.50 lakh. The base model is non-ABS (Anti-lock Breaking System). It’s the biggest motorcycle ever from Bajaj Auto, says ,it will be the first in the series of big muscular bikes. Bajaj, with Dominar 400, has started a new journey by entering into the fast growing premium bike market.
New Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by 373.2cc DTS-i single cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine. It is capable of producing 34.5bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 35Nm at 8,500rpm. The engine has been coupled with 6-gear manual transmission and the biggest addition to Dominar 400 is slipper clutch. Bajaj claims a top speed of 148kmph and it can go 0-100kmph at an acceleration time of 8.23 seconds. Dominar can contain 13-litres of fuel in its tank and can give mileage of 30 to 35km per litre.
The bike sports 43mm telescopic front-forks and an adjustable monoshock rear suspension while braking is provided by 320 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes. The bike also features dual-channel ABS, first for any bike from Bajaj. The bike rides on 110/70 R17 radial tyre at front and 150/60 R17 radial tyre at the back.
In terms of design, Bajaj Dominar sports muscular design with aggressive shades which gives it a sports bike look. It comes with full-LED headlights, first in its segment. It also comes with Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) function as standard. The new bike from Bajaj competes against everyone’s favorite Royal Enfield Classic 350. It is much faster than bullet, thanks to its engine.
“People can ride the Bullet and if they want to go faster than the Bullet, they can ride the Dominar,” said Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 will be available in three colors – Midnight Blue, Twilight Plum and Moon White. It will be available initially at 80 showrooms in 22 towns across the country. The company will soon accept online bookings for the Dominar 400 for a token amount of ₹ 9000, while test rides and deliveries will happen at the dealerships. The bike will also be sold in international markets including Dubai, Malaysia, Europe, and other selected countries. The deliveries in India will start from January next year. Bajaj is aiming to sell 15,000 units a month with an yearly estimation of 2 lakh units.
