Election Dates For Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur, & Goa; All You Need To Know

Assembly election dates for five regions- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Punjab, and Goa have been announced by the Election Comission of Indian today. Dr Nasim Zaidi, today, addressed the press conference and announced the election dates and and other related details.

Here are all the announcements:

  1. This year, millions of errors and multiple entries have been removed from the electoral rolls.
  2. Revised electoral rolls will be published on January 5 in Goa, January 5 in Punjab, January 12 in Manipur, January 10 in Uttarakhand, and January 12 in Uttar Pradesh.
  3. The Election Commission will distribute improved and colorful Voters’ slip to all voters. A colorful voter guide will also be distributed along with the slip which will contain all the information regarding election like polling stations, date and time of polling, etc.
  4. There are over 16 crores voters overall and according to the EC, polling station have been increased by 15 percent. Around 1.85 lakh polling stations will be covered this year.
  5. Height of voting compartment has also been increased by 30-inch for more secrecy.
  6. EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) will be used in all five regions.
  7. The model code of conduct comes into immediate effect.
  8. The Election Commission is discouraging the use of plastics and loudspeakers. Parties can’t use loudspeakers after 10 pm till 6 am.
  9. The Election commission will conduct this year’s election in fair manner.
  10. VVPATs will be used along with EVMs in identified Assembly Constituencies in all the five poll going states to enhance the transparency and credibility of the elections.
  11. The limit for expenses for candidates is Rs. 28 lakh in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab while Rs. 20 lakh for Manipur and Goa.
  12. Separate polling station for women will also be setup.
  13. Polling stations will also be PwD (Person with disabilities) friendly.
  14. Every polling station will have 4 posters for voting procedure and dos and don’ts.





Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh has total 403 constituencies and election will be conducted in seven (7) phases, just like last year.

Phase 1: Total Number of Constituencies- 73 | Cities: Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Hapur, Bulandshahar, Aligarh, Mathura, hathras, Agra, Firozabad, Etah, and Kasganj

  • Notification – January 17, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – January 24, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – January 25, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – January 27, 2017
  • Date of Election – February 11, 2017

Phase 2: Total Number of Constituencies- 67 | Cities: Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Bareilly, Amroha, Pilibhit, Kheri, Shahjahanpur, and Badaun.

  • Notification – January 20, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – January 27, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – January 28, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – January 30, 2017
  • Date of Election – February 15, 2017

Phase 3: Total Number of Constituencies- 69 | Cities: Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Sitapur

  • Notification – January 24, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – January 31, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – February 02, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – February 04, 2017
  • Date of Election – February 19, 2017

Phase 4: Total Number of Constituencies- 53 | Cities: Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Allahabad, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, and Rae Bareilly

  • Notification – January 30, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – February 06, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – February 07, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – February 09, 2017
  • Date of Election – February 23, 2017

Phase 5: Total Number of Constituencies- 52 | Cities: Balrampur, Gonda, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich, Shrawasti, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Amethi, and Sultanpur

  • Notification – February 02, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – February 09, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – February 11, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – February 13, 2017
  • Date of Election – February 27, 2017

Phase 6: Total Number of Constituencies- 49 | Cities: Maharajganj, Kushi Nagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ballia

  • Notification – February 08, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – February 15, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – February 16, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – February 18, 2017
  • Date of Election – March 04, 2017

Phase 7: Total Number of Constituencies- 40 | Cities: Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Sonbhadra, and Jaunpur

  • Notification – February 11, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – February 18, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – February 20, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – February 22, 2017
  • Date of Election – March 08, 2017

Manipur: Manipur has total 60 constituencies and election will be conducted in two (2) phases.

Phase 1: Total Number of Constituencies – 38

  • Notification – February 08, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – February 15, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – February 16, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – February 18, 2017
  • Date of Election – March 04, 2017

Phase 2: Total Number of Constituencies – 22

  • Notification – February 11, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – February 18, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – February 28, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – March 02, 2017
  • Date of Election – March 08, 2017





Uttarakhand: Uttarakhand has total 70 constituencies and election will be conducted in single phase.

Phase 1: Total Number of Constituencies – 70

  • Notification – January 20, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – January 27, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – January 28, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – January 30, 2017
  • Date of Election – February 15, 2017

Punjab: Punjab has total 117 constituencies and election will be conducted in single phase.

Phase 1: Total Number of Constituencies – 117

  • Notification – January 11, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – January 18, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – January 19, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – January 21, 2017
  • Date of Election – February 04, 2017

Goa: Goa has total 40 constituencies and election will be conducted in single phase.

Phase 1: Total Number of Constituencies – 40

  • Notification – January 11, 2017
  • Last Date of Nominations – January 18, 2017
  • Scrutiny of Nominations – January 19, 2017
  • Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations – January 21, 2017
  • Date of Election – February 04, 2017

Counting will be conducted on March 11, 2017 for all regions. That means, results for all five regions- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, and Manipur will be declared on March 11, 2017.
