Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has launched a new “IRCTC Rail Connect App” with more advanced features and security which will replace the existing IRCTC Connect App. With the new app, railway e-ticketing has now been made more simpler and easier. According to IRCTC, railway ticketing can now be done by just “SWIPE and SHUFFLE, SELECT and BOOK.”

“Currently e-ticketing system caters to over 10 lakh passengers daily. And to increase the ease to users, a new Android-based mobile application for reserved booking IRCTC Rail Connect has been developed,” stated Suresh Prabhu to reporters in New Delhi.

According to the Railway Minister, currently 58 percent of the total reserved passengers book their tickets online. “Rail Connect has been developed to bring the power of next generation e-ticketing system like high performance and enhanced security,” added Suresh Prabhu.

Now you don’t need to enter username and passowrd on each login as the new app sports a self assigned PIN feature according to which you can sign in to the app by just entering a single PIN. It also adds support for Ladies, Tatkal & Premium-Tatkal quota booking. New user registration and activation can now be done from the App directly.

For faster payments and bookings, IRCTC e-wallet has also been integrated with the app. Other e-wallets that have been integrated in the app is MobiKwik and PayUMoney. You can also make payments by using your debit/credit card or your internet banking account. The app’s payment gateway also supports Paytm wallet.

“Through IRCTC Rail Connect app users can view and cancel old mobile app tickets also. The new app will provide payment gateway to over 40 banks to facilitate payments through net Banking, credit or debit cards and wallets like Paytm, PayU, Mobikwik,” said Prabhu.

The new app also also provides Boarding point change facility, syncing of IRCTC’s NGeT Web Site and NGeT Mobile App tickets, and cancellation of tickets that have been booked online via IRCTC’s website and vice-versa. Users can view and cancel old mobile app tickets and can view the status of e-tickets booked through our authorized Online Travel Agents (OTA).

The IRCTC Rail Connect app will also be inter-connected with IRCTC AIR, Food on Track mobile apps to facilitate booking of air tickets and food through e-catering, said Railway Minster.
