Asus launched world’s first device named Zenfone AR that supports both Google Daydream for Virtual Reality (VR) experience and Tango for Augmented Reality (AR) experience. It also packs 8GB of RAM and comes at a price tag of Rs. 49,999 or $700. The VR+AR device is now exclusively available on Flipkart with No cost EMI and exchange offer up to Rs. 15,600.
To recall, Asus first unveiled the device at this year’s CES trade show held in Las Vegas. Both Google and Asus worked together on this smartphone to deliver perfect VR+AR experience via Google’s Daydream and Tango platforms. Zenfone AR is designed around computer vision software and set of sensors including camera that provides motion tracking, depth perception, and area learning. Augmented Reality technology lets you interact with the real-world environment whose elements are augmented using set of sensors and hence expands your vision. With Virtual Reality, you can experience imaginary world using VR Headsets such as Daydream in 360-degree.
The Zenfone AR sports a premium crafted metallic diamond-cut body with 5.7-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixel) super AMOLED Daydream-ready display that comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 with over 100 percent NTSC high color gamut. It is powered by 64-bit 2.35GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core SoC with Adreno 530 GPU and 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It comes with 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 2TB via microSD card.
Zenfone AR comes equipped with TriCam system consisting of three rear cameras- 23MP rear camera, depth sensing rear camera, and motion tracking rear camera. The 23MP Sony IMX318 module features f/2.0 aperture, dual-LED real tone flash, TriTech autofocus system, dual-PDAF, second-gen Laser Focus, and continuous autofocus. The rear camera also features a 4-axis OIS (optical image stabilization) for steady photos as well as 3-axis EIS (electronic image stabilization) for shake-free video recording alongside support for 4K video recording. On the front side, it sports 8MP OV 8856 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and screen flash. Both front and rear camera offers real time beautification modes.
It’s a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone that comes packed with 3300mAh battery and supports PowerDelivery 2.0 & Quick Charge 3.0 tech. It runs ZenUI 3.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat and packs fingerprint sensor that comes embedded in device’s home button. In terms of connectivity, it packs WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS/ GLONASS/ BDSS, 4G LTE/ VoLTE, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, and NFC. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, hall sensor, ambient light, RGB sensor, Infra Red (IR Laser Focus), and Barometer.
