HMD Global owned Nokia has launched Nokia X71, the first smartphone from the company that features hole-punch display, in Taiwan. The company has also launched Nokia 9 Pureview alongside X71 which was announced in February this year.

The smartphone will be available to buy in Taiwan starting April 30 and has been priced at TWD 11,900 which converts to USD 386 (roughly Rs. 26,600). It will be offered in single Eclipse Black color option, the company may introduce more color options later. There are no words yet on its availability in other global smartphone markets.

Nokia X71 sports 2.5D glass on both front and back sides and the notification light (breathing light) is located under the power button which glows white for unread messages or missed calls. The fingerprint sensor comes mounted on the rear panel below the triple camera module. The highlight is the hole-punch selfie camera which resides on the top left corner of the smartphone. With X71, you can enjoy a full-screen experience with a peak screen ratio of 93%.

Coming to the specifications, the smartphone features 6.39-inch FHD+ (1080×2316 pixels) IPS LCD display with a 19.3:9 aspect ratio, 500 nits peak brightness, 400 ppi pixel density, and 96 percent NTSC wide color gamut. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 (14nm) octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Kryo 260 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260) SoC paired with Adreno 512 GPU and 6GB of RAM. It comes with 128GB internal storage which can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.

The AI-powered triple rear camera system has been equipped with ZEISS-certified lenses which include a 48MP (f/1.8 aperture, 1/2″, 0.8µm, PDAF) primary sensor, 8MP (13mm) 120-degree ultra wide-angle sensor, and 5MP (f/2.4 aperture) depth sensor, paired with a dual-LED flash. The large pixel size on the rear camera lens along with a new generation image processing technology reduces noise and captures 2.5 times more light in the dark which results in bright and clearer photos. The LCD up front houses a 16MP selfie sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.

In terms of audio, the smartphone comes with Nokia OZO 360-degree sound technology allowing users to “capture the full vividness of 3D audio-depth, direction, and detail- within one degree of audio accuracy. OZO Focus and OZO Zoom allows you to track an audio source while eliminating distracting background noises and listen to things you want to hear.

Being a part of Google’s Android One program, X71 runs stock Android 9.0 Pie offering a pure android experience. It comes with Bluetooth v5.0 and supports Qualcomm aptX HD Audio which ensures high definition audio streaming over a wireless channel. Other connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS/AGPS + GLONASS + Beidou, USB 2.0 Type-C, and 3.5mm audio jack.

It’s a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone that comes packed with 3,500mAh battery and supports fast charging via the 18W fast charging adapter (included in the box). Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, and magnetometer.
