Meizu Pro 7, Meizu Pro 7 Plus features rear display, full specifications

Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Meizu has launched a set of smartphones- Meizu Pro 7 & Meizu Pro 7 Plus. The highlight of the smartphones is the never-seen-before 2-inch secondary AMOLED display on the rear side. Both the smartphones will be made available in China from August 5 at a starting price of CNY 2,880 and CNY 3,580 respectively.

The unique never-seen-before rear 2-inch AMOLED display comes with a resolution of 240×536 pixels and shows time, weather info, notifications, and more. It also acts as a selfie screen when using rear cameras to capture portraits. It will be interesting to see if this approach of placing a secondary screen on the rear side of the smartphone turns out to be a success. No doubt that it makes both the smartphones look fancy but the real question arises on screen’s durability and user-friendliness.

Coming to the specifications, Meizu Pro 7 sports a slim metallic design with 5.2-inch FHD (1920×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display. Pro 7 comes in two variants- one that features 2.5GHz MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core SoC paired with Mali-T880 GPU and 64GB of internal storage (CNY 2,880) and another variant is powered by a 2.6GHz MediaTek Helio X30 deca-core 10nm SoC paired with PowerVR 7XTP-MP4 GPU and 128GB of RAM (CNY 3,380). Both the variants packs 4GB of RAM and runs Android 7.0 Nougat based Flyme OS 6. It will be made available in Black, Gold, and Red colors. Meizu Pro 7 comes packed with 3000mAh battery with added support for mCharge v4.0 fast charging technology.


While the Meizu Pro 7 Plus sports 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display. It also comes in two options- 6GB RAM/ 64GB internal storage (CNY 3,580) & 6GB RAM/ 128GB (CNY 4,080) internal storage. Both the variants are powered by 2.6GHz MediaTek Helio X30 10nm deca-core SoC paired with PowerVR 7XTP-MP4 GPU and runs Android 7.0 Nougat based Flyme OS 6. The 64GB variant comes in four color options- Matte Black, Space Black, Crystal Silver, and Amber Gold while the 128GB variant will only be available in two color options- Matte Black & Space Black. Meizu Pro 7 Plus comes packed with 3500mAh battery with added support for mCharge v4.0 fast charging technology.

In terms of optics, both smartphones feature 12MP dual (monochrome + RGB) rear cameras with PDAF (phase detection auto focus), f/2.0 aperture, face detection, HDR, panorama, and dual tone LED flash. On the other hand, the devices sport 16MP front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Both devices support dual SIM configuration and pack standard connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, USB Type-C 1.0, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphones include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, and magnetometer apart from fingerprint sensor that comes embedded in the home button.
