The torrent giant Kickass Torrents that had been seized by law enforcement agencies is back up again, now by original staffers. The biggest torrent website Kat.cr was seized by government agencies after its owner Artem Vaulin got arrested in Poland in the month of July. The owner was accused of distributing over $1 billion worth of illegally copied films, music and copyrighted content.

Days after the seize, Kickass Torrents website was back online with different domain in the form of clone sites. And now, the torrent giant is back live at Katcr.co domain, first reported by TorrentFreak. According to the reports, the website is now manged and updated by original staffers that were also involved in controlling now seized domain Kat.cr.
The website is facing some technical issues right now because of the heavy traffic that it has been receiving since the launch which is slowing down the site’s load time. It is taking some attempts and for slow network connection, a lot, to load. Kickass Torrents now uses a new fresh and secure database but the design and interface remains the same.
“The majority of our original Staff, Admins and Moderation team joined us after Kat.cr went down – which is something we’re very proud of. This shows the loyalty, dedication and real love for KAT that we all share,” told Katcr.co team to TorrentsFreak.
The site’s renowed uploaders are also back with many of the Kat.cr team members. Thanks to the uploaders, the site has been launched with a lot of fresh content. “We have all our major uploaders on board and they continued to share tirelessly even before the torrent engines returned. The torrent community can continue to expect to see uploads from all the names they know and trust,” added Katcr.co team.
“In order to keep our members safe we chose to rebuild and keep only safe elements. Despite the fact that a rebuild took longer, the safety of our community comes first,” told KAT team to TorrentsFreak.
This time the team will follow the similar DMCA takedown procedure as YouTube. They also added that the site won’t store any copyrighted material on its servers.
“KAT is a community-based forum and a torrent search engine. It’s the heart of who we are and that will never change. Despite opinions to the contrary, torrents are not illegal and we do not host any content.
So as long as Kickass Torrents continues to operate to the absolute letter of the law then we are most certainly not conducting criminal activities,” the team stated.
