Comic-Con 2022: All the MCU Phase 5 Disney+ television series announced

Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege announced the Phase 5 lineup of Disney+ television series during the presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 International Convention alongside Phase 5 and Phase 6 films.

This space is focused on Disney+ television series that will be released in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you are looking for films then head over to this space where you will find all the Marvel Studios films that will be part of MCU Phase 5 and Phase 6.

Ongoing Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will conclude with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Disney+ series which is scheduled to release on the said platform on August 17, 2022. But before that, another animated series from Marvel Studios is scheduled to release on August 10, 2022, on Disney+ which is based on the cutest Marvel character and a hero of few words Groot, titled I Am Groot. While Phase 5 will commence with season 2 of What If…?

MCU Phase 5 Disney+ Series

What If…? (Season 2)

What If...? Season 2

Marvel Studios’ first animated series What If…? is returning for its second season on Disney+ in early 2023. Season 2 will reunite viewers with The Watcher to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the multiverse. According to footage of the first episode of What If…? Season 2 shown during the presentation, the story will revolve around Peggy Carter and Natasha Romanoff teaming up together to go up against Hydra Stomper.

Other familiar characters featuring in Season 2 will be Yondu, Young Peter Parker, Ego, Shang-Chi, Valkyrie, Korg, Tony Stark, Wenwu, Odin, Red Guardian, and more.

Considering there are always going to be new realities and new questions to ponder, What If…? will also return for Season 3.

Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion

Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion is coming to Disney+ in Spring 2023 starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes (War Machine), Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill (Fury’s Loyal No. 2), and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos. Nick Fury and Talos have already met in Captain Marvel which was placed in the 1990s and have known each other ever since.

Smulders was also present at the SDCC 2022 to talk about the new show. “This is a darker show, we’re going to get deeper into the characters. We’re going to see them in new ways, and it’s going to be an exciting thriller, and you’re never going to know who people are. Are they a Skrull? Are they human? It’s going to be a bit of a guessing game.”

Centered on Nick Fury, the crossover event series showcases a sect of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. The Disney+ series will consist of six episodes.

Former Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke will also be starring in the television series alongside Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Colman.

Echo

Echo

The Disney+ series Echo is set after the events of Hawkeye (2021) in New York City, Maya Lopez (Echo) returns to her hometown, where she must come to terms with her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace her family and community.

To recall, Maya Lopez/Echo, played by Alaqua Cox, was the deaf commander of the Tracksuit Mafia in the Hawkeye television series released in 2021.

Marvel Studios’ Echo is scheduled to be released in Summer 2023.

Loki (Season 2)

Season 2 of Marvel Studios’ Loki is all set to arrive on Disney+ in Summer 2023 and will consist of six episodes in total. All six episodes will be written by Eric Martin, with duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead sharing the director’s chair for the majority of episodes.

Tom Hiddleston will be returning as Loki. Other characters starring, reprising their roles from the first season include Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino.

Ironheart

Ironheart

Marvel Studios’ Ironheart is set to drop on Disney+ in the Fall of 2023. The series, currently in development, is based on Marvel Comics’ Riri Williams/Ironheart character which will be played by Dominique Thorne. There will be a total of six episodes in the series.

The character will be first introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie which is scheduled to release in November this year. Chinaka Hodge will be penning the script and Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes will be directing the show.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Marvel Studios’ Agatha: Coven of Chaos is a spin-off from the series WandaVision starring Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness. She is a powerful witch introduced in the WandaVision sitcom who was defeated and stripped of her magical abilities by Wanda Maximoff and forced to live out her life as Agnes in Westview.

The show was initially announced in November 2021 as Agatha: House of Harkness, until it was retitled in July 2022. Jac Schaeffer, who has also written two episodes of WandaVision, is set to write and executive produce the show.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is scheduled to be released in Winter 2023 on Disney+.

Daredevil: Born Again

Yes, you heard that right, Daredevil is officially being brought into the MCU fold with reboot project Daredevil: Born Again.

Charlie Cox has already reprised his role as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil for the blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home. Former Netflix show’s Vincent D’Onofrio will also be returing in the show as WilsonFisk/Kingpin who also appeared in last year’s Hawkeye.

The 18-episode series was confirmed to be in development for Disney+ in May after the platform regained the rights to the series from Netflix.

Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again will be coming to Disney+ in Spring 2024.
