Xiaomi has launched a range of new products at an event held in Beijing, China which includes company’s bezel-less flagship smartphone Mi Mix 2. Other products include Mi Note 3 and Mi Notebook Pro. Mi Mix 2 will also be launched globally, as of now, India launch has been made official saying “Coming to India very soon” without mentioning its price and availability details.

Mi Mix 2 comes in three storage variants 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB paired with 6GB of RAM. The 64GB variant has been priced at CNY 3,299 (roughly $505 OR Rs. 32,300), the 128GB variant comes at a price tag of CNY 3,599 (roughly $550 OR Rs. 35,300), while the 256GB Mi Mix 2 variant will cost you CNY 3,999 (roughly $610 OR Rs. 39,200). You can register here for smartphone’s first sale on September 15. There is another special edition variant featuring full ceramic body and packs 8GB RAM & 128GB storage, priced at CNY 4,699 (roughly $720 OR Rs. 46,000). The special edition variant will be made available sometime in November in Black and White color options.

The long awaited Mi Mix successor Mi Mix 2 (regular edition) sports four-sided curved ceramic body with a 7-series aluminum alloy frame while the special edition sports full ceramic unibody. The regular edition Mi Mix 2 is only available in Black color option featuring 18K gold plated rear camera rim and black color lens coating. The smartphone features 18:9 screen ratio and is claimed to be 11.5% lighter, 11.9% smaller, and 2.5% thinner than the predecessor. It also comes with an 80.8% screen-to-body ratio.The smartphone also packs hidden sound-guided speaker and ultrasonic proximity sensor.

The company explains hidden sound-guided speaker as cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology that completely hides output speaker on the smartphone and instead packs 50mW membrane speaker, sound guiding tube, and a sound hole resonating sound through the frame and delivering it via the screen, a feature never seen before. The device also packs a total of 43 network bands making it compatible to be used anywhere in the world including the United States.

The device packs 5.99-inch FHD (1080×1920 pixels) display with a pixel density of 403ppi and DCI-P3 color gamut. In terms of performance, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is powered by 64-bit 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC paired with 6GB of RAM (8GB for the special edition) and Adreno 540 GPU. There is no microSD card slot, we recommend you to select the storage variant sufficient for your usage. The fingerprint sensor has been placed on the rear below the camera module. The smartphone also features facial recognition technology on both rear and front cameras for biometric authentication. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat based company’s own UI called MIUI 9.

Mi Mix 2 features 12MP rear camera with Sony IMX386 sensor, 1.25-micron pixels, f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilization, 5-piece lens, PDAF, dark light enhancement tech, HDR, panorama, burst mode, facial recognition, and dual tone LED flash. While on the front side, it features 5MP selfie camera with self-timer and facial recognition function.

It’s a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone that comes packed with 3400mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. Connectivity options on board the device include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS / GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include an ultrasonic proximity sensor, accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, magnetometer, hall sensor, and barometer.
