Google’s Daydream View VR Headset Is Now Available

Google’s Daydream View VR (Virtual Reality) Headset is now available in United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Germany. Google had announced the Daydream View at this year’s Google I/O. For now, Google Pixel and Pixel XL are the only smartphones that supports Daydream View.

The Daydream View VR Headset is available to buy on Google Store, Verizon, and Best Buy at a price of $79. It comes exclusively in three color options- Slare, Snow, and Crimson.

Now, What’s Daydream View? Daydream View VR Headset is a mobile virtual reality platform and is more powerful than Cardboard. It brings your favorite apps to virtual reality. Daydream will only work on Android N powered devices having special sensors and screen. It’s a platform for high quality, mobile virtual reality. Daydream provides rich, responsive, and immersive experiences with hardware and software built for VR.




Companies like Samsung, Xiaomi, ZTE, Alcatel, Huawei, Asus are already on board to make Daydream-ready devices and will be introducing the devices soon.

Google has also launched Daydream supported apps- the Daydream App, YouTube VR App, and Google Art & Culture VR. Google’s Daydream-ready Street View will also be available soon. You can download the apps from Google Play Store.

The YouTube VR app will let you watch 3D videos and 360-degree videos on the Daydream View VR Headset. You can search for videos either through voice or by using the standard keyboard. Google is also reaching out to YouTube video creators, asking them to produce 360-degree videos for Daydream headset.

On the other hand, Daydream app features a collection of Daydream-ready apps and games. Google has partnered with video-game developers to introduce more Daydream-ready games in near future. More apps (not Google’s) and services for the Daydream View will be launching soon. Daydream Keyboard and other VR services are already available on Play Store.

Some of the Non-Google apps including CNN VR, Guardian VR, and Fantastic Beasts are also available on Google Play Store.
