HMD Global owned Nokia has launched its budget smartphone named Nokia 2 in India. After introducing its mid-range and high-end smartphone lineup, Nokia has finally unveiled its budget smartphone priced at EUR 99 (approx Rs. 7,500). India pricing has not been shared, however, the company said that it will carry the same price tag.

The smartphone will be available to buy sometime in November. As for design and looks, Nokia 2 sports polycarbonate body and 6000 series aluminum frame. It has been rated IP52 for drip protection and comes in three color options- Pewter White (black frame and white front), Pewter Black (black frame and black front), and Copper (Copper frame and black front and back).

The smartphone features 5-inch HD LTPS display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels that comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core SoC paired with 1GB LPDDR3 RAM. It comes with 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 128GB via microSD card.

In terms of camera, the smartphone features 8MP rear sensor with autofocus and LED flash and on the front side, it sports 5MP fixed focus selfie camera. Nokia 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and there is no fingerprint sensor on the smartphone. The device packs massive 4100mAh battery which company claims can deliver 2 days of backup.

It’s a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone with a hybrid setup which means- Nano SIM + Nano SIM or Nano SIM + microSD card. Connectivity options on board Nokia 2 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, FM Radio with RDS, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro USB port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, and magnetometer.

It’s a good smartphone for those who are switching from feature phone to a smartphone. You can’t do much with 8GB of internal storage and 1GB RAM but like I said, it’s great for first-time smartphone users or for those who need a smartphone with good internet connectivity for browsing and stuff, to do social networking and obviously to make calls.
