Xiaomi Starts Rolling Out MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM; Supported Devices & Features
In an latest event, Xiaomi has announced the latest version of its operating system i.e. MIUI 8 has started rolling out to select Xiaomi devices from August 23. Here is the list of devices that will receive MIUI 8 update : Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Mi2, Mi 2S, Mi3, Mi4i, Mi 4, Mi 5, Mi Note, Mi Max (32GB).
However Redmi 1S, Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, will get OTA update from August 23 and rest of the devices will receive the updates later on in the near future.
MIUI 8 comes with more cleaner, simpler and interactive user interface. It will be more colorful and user friendly than ever before. MIUI 8 is packed with lots of new features like Quick Ball button which will help you access your commonly used actions such as taking a screenshot, going back or going to the home screen or anything. The Quick Ball button menu can be customized up to 5 gesture shortcuts, can be placed anywhere on the screen, and can also be accessible from the lock screen.

Other features includes Mi Cloud Photo Sync; new templates for Notes; new App Lock; Dual Apps, which will allow you to use, for example, two WhatsApp account on one phone; Redesigned Gallery App; a smart menu for editing text; Second Space, which will allow you to have two smartphone instances on the same device; Scrolling Screenshots, which will allow users to take multi-screen screenshots as one image. Smart Caller ID will be available in India in both the Dialler and Messaging apps.
Xiaomi users who are using MIUI Global Stable ROM will receive the MIUI 8 update notification on their devices. Users can also check for the update using the Updater app. Other ROM users can flash MIUI 8 ROM using the guide posted on MIUI forum.
