Samsung Galaxy A20 with AMOLED display, Exynos 7884 launched in India

Samsung has launched a new A-series smartphone in India named Samsung Galaxy A20. The smartphone comes equipped with AMOLED display and is aimed at price-conscious customers who end up in the hands of China-based smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and more.

The South Korean-based Samsung, in the race to lead India’s smartphone market and to compete with Xiaomi, has been launching budget-friendly smartphones in the country since the past few months. The list includes Galaxy A10, Galaxy A30, and Galaxy A50 including the India-exclusive Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20, and Galaxy M30 smartphones.

The company has now announced Galaxy A20, a smartphone that features sAMOLED display at a price of Rs. 12,490 (approx $180). The phone is the only variant that has been launched and the color options include- Black, Blue, and Red. The smartphone is scheduled to go on sale April 10 onwards via both offline and online (Flipkart, Amazon, Paytm Mall, Samsung online store, and other) retail partners.

Let’s come to the specifications, A20 sports 6.4-inch HD+ (720×1560 pixels) Infinity-V Super AMOLED display with 19.5:9 display ratio. It is powered by Exynos 7884 octa-core (2×1.6GHz and 6×1.35GHz) chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. The 32GB internal storage is expandable up to 512GB via microSD card which can be inserted into the dedicated slot so that you never run out of storage.

Camera department includes dual rear camera setup consisting of a 13MP primary wide-angle autofocus sensor with f/1.9 aperture and 5MP secondary depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture, paired with an LED flash. The setup is capable of capturing ultra-wide photos and videos. The waterdrop notch houses an 8MP fixed focus selfie shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.

The device runs Samsung’s One UI based on Android 9.0 Pie and the fingerprint sensor comes mounted on the rear panel. The phone is built using what Samsung calls it “3D Glasstic” material which is basically a highly polished plastic made to look like premium glass-like glossy surface.

The dual SIM (Nano) smartphone is equipped with a 4000mAh battery and supports fast charging via 15W charging adapter. Connectvity options onboard Samsung Galaxy A20 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, FM Radio, GPS/ A-GPS/ GLONASS/ BDS, and USB TYpe-C port. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, and magnetometer.

Samsung Galaxy A20 was first launched in Russia last month and India is the second smartphone market where it has been made available.
