Moto P30 with notch display, Snapdragon 630 launched: Specifications

Lenovo-owned Motorola aka Moto has launched a mid-range smartphone in China featuring 18.7:9 notch display and is called Moto P30. The smartphone boasts iPhone X-like design overall and comes in Aurora Blue, Black, and White color options.

In one of the Weibo post, Motorola stated that the phone is “designed for China,” so, there’s a possibility that it may not launch in other international markets. The smartphone comes in two storage variants- 6GB/ 64GB and 6GB/ 128GB, priced at CNY 2,099 (Rs. 21,300 or $305) and CNY 2,499 (approx Rs. 25,370 or $360). It will be available to buy starting September 15.

Moto P30 sports double-sided 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass and features 6.2-inch FHD+ (1080×2246 pixels) IPS LCD display with 18.7:9 display ratio. It is powered by a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 630 SoC paired with Adreno 509 GPU and 6GB of RAM. The storage capacity which is 64GB or 128GB can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.

Camera department includes dual rear camera setup consisting of a 16MP OV16B primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens and a 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture lens. The dual camera setup pack features like bokeh effect, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), HDR, panorama, professional mode, portrait mode, and comes paired with dual-tone LED flash. On the front, the smartphone features a 12MP selfie sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens, double-sided AI blur, beautify, and support AR functionalities. Both side cameras support double-sided AI portrait background blur algorithm and AR (augmented reality) capabilities.

Moto P30 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo-based ZUI 4.0 and packs features like AI game mode that accelerates CPU performance and activates do not disturb mode. You can reply to calls and messages without jumping out of the game. The device supports Dolby 360-degree surround sound technology, advanced security features, a fingerprint sensor (mounted on the rear), face unlock feature and easy-to-operate Motorola gestures.

It’s a dual SIM (Nano) hybrid smartphone that comes packed with 3,000 mAh battery and supports Motorola’s patented fast charging technology via 18W charging adapter which is claimed to fuel up 8 hours of battery in just 15 minutes. Connectivity options onboard Moto P30 include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS/GLONASS, FM Radio, USB OTG, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, and magnetometer.

Motorola also announced phones that will be receiving Android 9.0 Pie update this fall. Here’s the list- Moto Z2 Force Edition, Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z3, Moto Z3 Play, Moto G6, Moto G6 Play, Moto G6 Plus, and Moto X4.
