Sony has launched a range of Xperia smartphones at this year’s IFA trade show expanding its Xperia X series portfolio- Sony Xperia XZ1, Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, and Sony Xperia XA1 Plus.
Pricing & Availability: The company hasn’t revealed Xperia XA1 Plus price, however, the other two smartphones, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact, have been priced at $699 and $599 respectively. Both the smartphones will be shipped in the month of September while the Xperia XA1 Plus is expected to start shipping in Autumn this year.
Sony Xperia XA1 Plus sports 5.5-inch FHD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display that comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. It’s a mid-range smartphone powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 octa core (4 Cortex-A53 @ 2.3GHz & 4 Cortex-A53 @ 1.6GHz) SoC paired with Mali-T880MP2 GPU and 4GB/ 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB/ 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.
The smartphone features a 23MP rear camera with 1/2.3″ Exmor RS for mobile image sensor, hybrid autofocus, 24mm wide angle f/2.0 lens, SteadyShot, and LED flash. The rear camera is capable of capturing photos in low-light conditions with sensitivity up to ISO6400 where ISO represents how sensitive the image sensor is with respect to the amount of light present. The higher the ISO, the more clear is your photo in low-light. It also features 8MP selfie camera with 1/4″ Exmor R sensor, 23mm wide angle f/2.0 lens, capable of low-light photography (up to ISO3200), and SteadyShot.
Depending on regions, the smartphone is available in single SIM and dual SIM options. Sony Xperia XA1 Plus packs 3420mAh battery with STAMINA mode and MediaTek Pump Express Plus 2.0 quick charging technology. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat (later upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo) and will be made available in Gold, Black, and Blue colors.
In terms of audio enhancements, Xperia XA1 Plus sports Sony ClearAudio+ sound technology with SmartAmp (Smart Amplifier), Stereo Recording, and Qualcomm aptX compression algorithms. Connectivity options on board the smartphone include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, NFC, GPS/ GLONASS, FM Radio, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, and magnetometer apart from fingerprint sensor that has been placed on device’s power button.
