CISCO India has unveiled three new cyber security initiatives for more secure and transparent digital infrastructure of India. Nowadays, India is digitizing way faster than before following the demonetization. More and more people and enterprises are turning towards digital infrastructure. Cyber security is becoming a very hot topic in today’s era for individuals and all the digital firms.

CISCO is all set to build the country’s digital infrastructure more secured. The company will open a new Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Pune which will provide services ranging from monitoring and management to comprehensive threat solutions and customized hosted security. CISCO Systems has also launched Cisco Cyber Range Lab at its Gurugram facility which will provide specialized technical training workshops to its security staff to help build the necessary skills required to fight today’s cyber threats.

Company’s global Security & Trust Organization (S&TO) and Cisco India also announced the formation of Cisco S&TO-India. It will help the government shape the national cyber-security strategy and initiatives to digitize its economy.

CISCO and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Electronics and IT Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad. Under this, both the teams will work together and establish a threat intelligence sharing programme to enhance the cyber security and fight against digital threats.

“In light of rapidly evolving cyber tactics and shared risks in cyberspace, the need to work side-by-side with industry partners on pressing cyber-challenges becomes increasingly important. We are happy to have Cisco collaborate with us to enhance the security of India’s digital infrastructure,” stated Ravi Shankar Prasad.

“As India digitises, security will become fundamental to seizing the unprecedented opportunities for businesses, cities and citizens. Cisco is committed to enable a digital-ready infrastructure and security everywhere. Today’s cyber-security announcements reaffirm Cisco’s long-term commitment to India,” said Dinesh Malkani, President, Cisco India and SAARC.

The company has four Security Operation Centres globally including India. The other three centres are established in Poland, US and Japan. This helps CISCO to provide 24-hour service for customers regardless of time zone.

According to CISCO, there are currently more than 1 million security job openings worldwide. Cisco Network Academy programme has trained 122,000 students globally. The company’s aim is to train 250,000 more students by 2020. The company had also announced a $10 million Global Cyber-Security Scholarship.
