During his highly anticipated US trip commencing today, PM Modi is scheduled to hold a meeting with Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the owner of Twitter.

This encounter marks a significant development as the Prime Minister had previously met Musk in 2015 during his visit to the Tesla Motors factory in California, a time when Musk had not yet acquired ownership of Twitter.

The timing of the Prime Minister’s upcoming meeting with Musk is particularly noteworthy, as Tesla is currently exploring potential locations for establishing its factory in India.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk expressed keen interest in the Indian market for Tesla, stating, “Absolutely.” He further mentioned that the selection of a suitable location for Tesla’s India factory is likely to be finalized by the end of this year.

During his visit to New York, the Prime Minister is set to engage with over two dozen thought leaders from diverse fields. This esteemed group includes Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academics, and experts from the health sector. The purpose of these interactions, as per government sources, is to gain insights into the latest developments in the US and explore potential collaborations.

Among the notable individuals, PM Modi is scheduled to meet are Elon Musk, author and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, economist Paul Romer, statistician Nicholas Nassim Taleb, and investor Ray Dalio, as per government sources. The list also includes Indian-American singer Falu Shah, author and researcher Jeff Smith, former US trade representative Michael Froman, diplomat Daniel Russel, and defense expert Elbridge Colby.

Additionally, the Prime Minister’s agenda includes meetings with physician and Nobel laureate Dr. Peter Agre, healthcare expert Dr. Stephen Klasko, and Indian-American businesswoman and artist Chandrika Tandon.

The Prime Minister’s US trip holds significant importance as it is a prestigious State Visit, a distinction reserved by Washington DC for its closest allies. The itinerary features several key engagements such as addressing a joint session of the US Congress, meetings with business leaders and Indian expats, as well as a state dinner at the White House with US President Joe Biden.

Promoting trade and strengthening defense ties are key focal points during this momentous trip.
