Google is planning to deal strictly with piracy and has decided to remove all the torrent or piracy website links from its search engine. According to a Torrent Freak’s report, the search engine giant has been criticized by some Hollywood representatives for promoting piracy. Not only Google, other search engines like Bing, Yahoo will also be taking same measures to tackle piracy spread all over internet.

It has now been clear to tech companies and other law enforcement agencies that blocking one or more torrent site is not gonna work as on blocking, other mirror site takes its place on different domain. As you already know, biggest torrent site named Kickass Torrents was blocked after the law enforcement agencies arrested Artem Vaulin, owner, and also took down the servers.

Later, the same torrent site went live again on different domain with added features and existing database. This is what happens nowadays, you take down one torrent site, another mirror site takes its place. Following the arrest, torrent’s biggest search engine Torrentz.eu took itself down to support fight against piracy.

Recently, a discussion between Hollywood representatives and tech giants like Google, Yahoo, Bing took place and was chaired by UK’s Intellectual Property Office. The discussion ended with agreement to ban torrent sites permanently by removing all the torrent links from search engines.

“While there are still elements of detail to be settled, the group is now agreed on the key content of the code and I expect an agreement to be reached very soon,” said Baroness Buscombe.

However, it is expected that the ban will be seen only in UK for now, but it may soon be applied globally. As per the report, the new bill will soon be passed and may come in effect from June 1, 2017. More details to be revealed soon, keep visiting.
