Xiaomi recently launched its already launched smartphone in India named Xiaomi Redmi 5. It was first introduced in China alongside Redmi 5 Plus which the company launched in India as Redmi Note 5 last month. Redmi 5 is an Amazon exclusive smartphone and will go on sale starting March 20.
The company has launched the phone in three variants- 2GB/ 16GB, 3GB/ 32GB and 4GB/ 64GB priced at Rs. 7,999, Rs. 8,999 and Rs. 10,999 respectively. You can buy the variant that fits your requirements on March 20 via Amazon India, Mi.com and Mi Store. It comes in four color options- Gold, Lake Blue, Rose Gold, and Black. Launch offers include 5% instant discount on SBI credit cards, 90% discount up to Rs. 400 on Kindle eBooks and Rs. 2,200 instant cashback and up to 100GB additional data for Jio subscribers. Xiaomi is also offering an ultra-slim soft case as a freebie with every Redmi 5 variant.
Jio offer in detail: Rs. 2,200 will be credited in users MyJio app in the form of 44 cashback vouchers of Rs. 50 each when they buy any of the Redmi 5 variants. In order to avail, users must activate the device using Jio SIM card and perform a recharge using MyJio app. After successful transaction, the telecom company will credit 44 vouchers worth Rs. 50 each into the user’s account which they can utilize in future recharges, one at a time. Vouchers are valid until May 31, 2022, and can be applied to a prepaid recharge of Rs. 198 or Rs. 299 done using MyJio app. The offer also includes additional 10GB data which will be credited to user’s account for up to 10 recharges.
Coming on to the specifications, the smartphone sports 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 282ppi pixel density, 450 nits brightness, and 72% of NTSC color gamut and on top, there is 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC paired with Adreno 506 GPU and your choice of RAM (2GB/3GB/4GB). It comes with 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB via MicroSD card.
Camera department includes a 12MP 1.25μm large-pixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5-element lens, low light enhancement, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), HDR, panorama, burst mode, face recognition, and LED flash. On the front side, the smartphone features 5MP selfie camera with face recognition and Beautify 3.0.
It’s a dual SIM smartphone that supports hybrid configuration and packs 3300mAH non-removable battery. Redmi 5 runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat based company’s own UI called MIUI 9 and also packs fingerprint sensor that comes mounted on the rear panel. Connectivity option onboard Xiaomi Redmi 5 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS/ GLONASS, FM Radio, IR blaster, micro USB 2.0 port, and 3.5mm audio jack.
