Moto Z2 Play with Moto Mods launched; Specifications, price, features

Lenovo launched Moto Z2 Play, its latest high end smartphone, at an event on Thursday. It comes with support for different modular Moto Mods which the company launched last week. It’s up for pre-order on Flipkart and will be available to buy starting June 15 via both offline and online retailers. It has been priced at Rs. 27,999 and comes in four color options- Lunar Gray, Black, Fine Gold, and White.

If you pre-order the smartphone then you can avail different launch offers such as extra Rs. 2000 off on exchange over regular value, up to 55% off on select Moto Mods, and no cost EMI that means you don’t have to pay any interest and processing fee if you buy using your credit card on EMI. Lenovo has also partnered with Reliance Jio to offer 100GB of additional 4G data to its customers.

Moto Mods are the modular accessories that attaches to Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z, and Moto Z Play for boosting its performance. The company has introduced four Moto Mods that include JBL Sound Boost Speaker Mod with integrated 1000mAh battery and priced at Rs. 6,999, Moto Powerpack Battery Mod (Rs. 3,999) with 2220mAh battery that adds up to 16 hours of battery life to the smartphone instantly, Hasselblad Camera Mod (Rs. 19,999) turns your smartphone into a professional camera offering 10x optical zoom and Xenon flash, and Insta Share Projector Mod that helps you project anything you want on to a wall and has been priced at Rs. 19,999.




In terms of specifications, the smartphone sports all-metal unibody design with 5.5-inch FHD (1080×1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display that comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC paired with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.

It features 12MP rear camera with 1.4-micron pixels, PDAF laser focus, dual pixel (IMX 362), f/1.7 aperture, and dual CCT (color correlated temperature) flash. On the other hand, it has 5MP front facing camera with 1.4-micron pixels, f/2.2 aperture, and 85-degree wide angle lens. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and sports fingerprint sensor in its home button.

It’s a dual SIM (Nano SIM) smartphone that comes packed with 3000mAh battery rated to deliver more than a day (30 hours) of mixed usage. The smartphone comes with TurboPower charger that can fuel up the battery up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. It also packs standard connectivity options such as WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, 4G VoLTE, NFC, FM, GPS, microUSB port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include- proximity, accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, and magnetometer.

Other features include Moto Voice, Moto Actions, and Moto Display. Moto Voice enable voice recognition that lets you speak top your phone, ask for questions and directions and much more. With Moto Actions, you can control the smartphone using smart motions and gestures like opening the camera with the flick of your wrist and turning on the flashlight by doing a chop twice. Moto Display feature lets you preview any notification or updates without unlocking the device.
