Google is all set to reveal Android O, its latest Android OS version, the same day when the most beautiful scientific phenomenon, total solar eclipse, will happen i.e. on August 21. The final version of Android O or we can say Android Oreo will be unveiled coming Monday at an event in NYC at 2:40 pm ET.

The search engine giant has also prepared an eclipse-themed web page to live stream the historic natural phenomenon via NASA or you can also tune into Android O launch event to experience the eclipse when the entire United States fall under its path for the first time since 1918.

The last beta version of Android O was released in July and now the company is all prepared to showcase its biggest release of the year, the next Android. The name of Android O is yet to be announced officially and so are other details. Google may also make some announcement regarding its next Pixel smartphone.

Is Android O Android Oreo? Well, a leak from Google has indicated that the next Android is indeed named after milk’s favorite cookie- Oreo. The leak was caught by Android Police where they found a teaser video posted on Google+ named “GoogleOreo_Teaser_0817_noDroids (1).mp4” which has now been deleted.

Google later replaced the deleted post with another carrying the name with the word ‘octopus’ in place of Oreo. We know it was done to mislead Android fans and to confuse them between Oreo and Octopus but the thing is Oreo came first and it also fits the tradition of naming Android versions after a dessert. However, we should also keep in mind that Android O developer previews have also hinted Octopus and Orangina.

Whether it’s Oreo, Octopus, Oatmeal Cookie, Orange, or something else, it doesn’t matter now. We won’t have to wait longer to know what O actually is and one thing is sure that “Android O is touching down to Earth with the total solar eclipse.”
