Looks like HBO is in serious trouble once again as hackers have now hacked both HBO and its popular fantasy drama TV series Game of Thrones’ official Twitter accounts. Hackers group named OurMine admitted the hack and asked HBO to upgrade its security in collaboration with them.

Here’s what OurMine hackers group tweeted using HBO and Game of Thrones’ Twitter accounts- “Hi, OurMine are here, we are just testing your security, HBO team please contact us to upgrade the security- ourmine.org -> contact.” Hackers also tweeted- “let’s make #HBOHacked trending!”

To recall, OurMine hackers group has hacked a lot of Twitter accounts last year including Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Britney Spears. Not just HBO and  Game of Thrones, several other cable network’s shows official twitter accounts were also compromised including Silicon Valley, Looking, Last Week Tonight, True Blood, Vinyl, Veep, and the Leftovers.

HBO is going through worst times, first hackers hacked its servers and stole 1.5TB of data which included unaired episodes of popular HBO TV series such as Ballers, Room 104 and script of Game of Thrones’s episodes. On August 13, hackers also leaked unaired episodes from season 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm, a popular comedy TV series which is scheduled to be premiered sometime in October.

Not just hackers, the entertainment network, and its distributors also played a vital role in leaking episodes from season 7 of Game of Thrones. Episode 4 leak came from HBO’s international distributor partner Star India while the recent leak of episode 6 came straight from HBO Spain when it mistakenly broadcasted the episode. Some scenes and images from episode 7 of Game of Thrones are also leaked, according to some reports.

Not just this, hackers also leaked phone numbers and email addresses of popular TV series’ celebrities. HBO tried to offer hackers $250,000 as bug bounty payment to prevent future leaks but hackers demanded $6 million in Bitcoins.

A lot is happening, cyber attacks are increasing day by day putting the privacy of individuals and the organizations at risk. Getting off-topic, we suggest you to keep your system, apps, and any other software you are using up to date in order to keep your data safe.
