Oppo, after launching it in the Philippines, has finally launched the much-awaited Oppo F5 in India. Oppo’s latest selfie-focused smartphone sports 20MP front camera which makes use of artificial intelligence to enhance the selfie.
It’s a Flipkart exclusive device that has been priced at Rs. 19,990 for the 4GB/ 32GB variant and Rs. 24,990 for 6GB/ 64GB variant. The 4GB RAM variant is available to buy in Gold and Black color options while the 6GB variant comes in Red and Black color options. The 4GB/ 32GB variant is set for sale on November 8 and is currently up for pre-orders on Flipkart while the 6GB/ 64GB variant will be made available to buy in December.
Oppo also unveiled Oppo F5 Youth at the launch event which will feature 6-inch large display and also AI beautification. It will be launched in India sometime in December. The company hasn’t shared any further details about the device. Oppo F5 launch offers include 5 percent discount when purchased using debit/ credit card and an additional 5 percent cashback for Axis Bank users using Buzz credit cards. If you purchase the smartphone between November 2 and November 8 then you will get additional 15 percent discount on fashion & lifestyle products.
Coming to the specifications, the all-new Oppo F5 sports 6-inch FHD (1920×1080 pixels) LTPS TFT full-screen display that comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by a 2.5GHz MediaTek MT6763T octa-core SoC paired with your choice of RAM (4GB/6GB). As mentioned earlier, it comes in two storage options- 32GB and 64GB which can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.
The smartphone packs 16MP rear autofocus camera with f/1.8 aperture and dual LED flash while on the front side it sports 20MP selfie camera (f/2.0 aperture and 1/2.8″ sensor size) paired with AI-powered facial feature optimization technology that accentuates your facial landmarks and enhances the symmetry of your facial features like eyes, nose, cheekbones, and jawline using more than 200 positioning spots. The front camera also packs features like beauty-iris tool that makes your eyes shine brighter in photos and bokeh mode that makes you face the main object which is to be focused.
The device also packs features like O-Share which is claimed to be faster than Bluetooth. It transfers your files from one Oppo phone to another. Other features include split screen mode that lets you use two apps simultaneously, facial unlock which lets you unlock your phone using your face, and eye protection mode which protects your eyes when it gets darker. There is also a fingerprint scanner located on the back side of the smartphone.
It’s a dual SIM smartphone with triple slot tray that accepts two Nano SIMs and one microSD card. It comes packed with 3200mAh battery and runs ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. Connectivity options on board Oppo F5 include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and Micro USB port with support for USB OTG. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, and magnetometer.
