Google on October 4 at its hardware event launched a bunch of products including Google Pixelbook, thinnest and lightest laptop Google has ever made which comes with a Pixelbook Pen, a stylus that has builtin Google Assistant to enhance the user experience and make it easier to search the internet. Google also launched Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones, Google Home Mini and Google Home Max, Google Pixel Buds, Google Clips, and upgraded Google Daydream View.
The all-new Pixelbook runs Chrome OS and is fast and secure, claimed Google. The laptop comes integrated with Google Assistant to boost the user experience and make it more user-friendly. It is 10mm thin and weighs just 1Kg and sports aluminum unibody with 12.3-inch Quad (2400×1600 pixels) HD LCD touchscreen display having a pixel density of 235ppi and on top, there is Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by 7th Gen Intel Core i5 and i7 processor and is capable of providing seamless 4K output to an external monitor.
Talking about the variants and their pricing- Google Pixelbook with 7th Gen Intel Core i5 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB SSD comes with a price tag of $999 while the 7th Gen Intel Core i5 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD has been priced at $1,199. The top model that packs 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processor bundled with 16GB of RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD will cost you $1,649. You have to pay $99 extra for the Pixelbook Pen.
The Google Pixelbook comes with a smart stylus named Pixelbook Pen powered by Google’s AI-based Google Assistant which can be used to search for books, music, celebrity, or anything available on the internet, all you have to do is to mark that particular thing you need to search for. Suppose you are on a news website and you see a photo of a person that you don’t know about, you just have to encircle that photo with Pixelbook Pen and that’s it, without making any extra effort Google Assistant will give you all the information about that person. It lets you take notes, draw, edit photos on Adobe Photoshop and much more. The Pixelbook Pen offers 10ms of latency, 60-degree angular awareness, and over 2,000 levels of pressure sensitivity.
The Pixelbook packs 45Whr battery rated to deliver 10 hours of mixed use and supports fast charging via its USB Type-C 45W charger. The charger can fuel up the battery for 2 hours in just 15 minutes. In absence of internet connection, its Instant Tethering feature can automatically connect Pixelboook to your Pixel phone internet connection without the need to turn on the hotspot on your device.
The keyboard on the Pixelbook packs backlit keys for easier typing in low-light conditions and the edge-to-edge trackpad sports etched glass surface. Google has also placed a dedicated key for Google Assistant on the keyboard which when pressed activates the smart assistant. In terms of audio experience, it packs dual speakers for louder sound and 4 mics for improved noise cancellation during video calls.
Google Pixelbook comes with TRM chip for better on-device security and packs a camera above the display that can shoot 720p video @ 60fps. Connectivity options on board Pixelbook include two USB Type-C ports, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 (MIMO) dual-band (2.4 GHz, 5.0 GHz), and Bluetooth v4.2. Sensors on the laptop include 3-axis gyroscope, accelerometer, hall effect sensor, ambient light, and magnetometer.
It has the latest security and features and the device updates automatically. The Pixelbook features 4-in-1 convertible design allowing you to use it as a laptop indeed or fold it into a tablet, stand it up or down. The laptop is available to pre-order in the United States and other countries and will go on sale on October 31 in Silver color option.
