PM Modi Announces Task Force To Be Set Up For Next 3 Olympics

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing before flagging off "Run for Rio" at National stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.

Following the performance of Indian athletes in this year Olympics, PM Modi took a step forward and announced a task force which is to be set up in the next few days to prepare a comprehensive action plan for the next three Olympic games.

118 athletes were sent to the Olympics this year to represent India but only two of them able to win a medal : one bronze and one silver. So to ensure better performance in coming Olympics, PM Narendra Modi announced the task force.

The task force will include experts from within the country and from abroad as well. The task force will prepare the an overall strategy for sports facilities, training and selection of athletes for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, 2024 and 2028 Olympics.

Only PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik received a Silver and a Bronze medal respectively while rest of the 116 athletes return home empty handed. One of the athlete named Dipa Karmakar made India proud with her heartwarming performance and also became the highlight of Rio Olympics for India. Knowing the infrastructure of Gymnastics in India, she really did a great job.

India’s performance at the Rio Olympics has highlighted many factors like poor facilities, lack of training, and support.
