Gionee S9 Launched: Price, Release Date, Specifications & Features

Gionee has launched its latest smartphone Gionee S9 in China. The smartphone has been priced at 2,999 Yuan (apprx. Rs. 25,000) and will be available in the country from November 25. Gionee S9 will be available in Black, Gold, and Rose Gold color options.

The Gionee S9 comes with a 5.5-inch FHD (1080 x 1920 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass. The smartphone is powered by 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM. It packs 64GB of internal storage and expandable upto 128GB via MicroSD card in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration. As said, it’s a dual Sim (Micro + Nano/MicroSD card) smartphone having Hybrid setup.



The smartphone features dual rear camera, one 13MP and other 5MP, with dual-tone LED flash. The camera also uses sensors from Sony and Samsung to enhance the photo capturing quality. The dual rear cameras will allow users to adjust the focus and zooming capability together in one click. The S9 also packs a 13-megapixel front facing camera with Gionee’s selfie flash feature.

The smartphone sports fingerprint scanner at the back. Gionee claims that its new device comes with some security features like application password feature which lets you lock apps and documents with fingerprint or password/pattern lock. Xiaomi is already offering similar feature in its smartphones from a very long time. The phone also offers private space that lets users save private contacts, texts, call history, and documents separately in private space which can also be protected with fingerprint.

It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow based company’s Amigo OS 3.5. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, GPRS, EDGDE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, and GPS. The smartphone is bundled with 3,000mAh battery.
