Huawei launched its flagship devices Mate 9, Mate 9 Porsche Design

Huawei launched the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design flagship smartphones at an event in Munich, Germany on Thursday. Both the phones have the same second generation Leica-certified dual rear cameras.

Both the smartphones comes with an all-metal unibody design and curved 2.5D glass on the front. The Mate 9 Porsche Design however carries a distinct Porsche Design branding upfront indicating its collector’s edition ideology.

Mate 9 Porsche Design more premium, smaller and lighter as compared to the standard version Mate 9. Both devices feature a fingerprint sensor, but they aren’t positioned in the same place, Porsche Design Mate 9 has front-mounted fingerprint sensor while standard model has rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The standard Mate 9 measures 156.9 x 7.9 x 7.9mm and hits the scales at 190g, while the Mate 9 Porsche Design model measures 152 x 75 x 7.5mm and weighs 169g.




The Porsche Design is a limited edition model, as we mentioned, and it only comes in one color option: Graphite Black. The standard Mate 9 on the other hand, is available in Space Grey, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, Ceramic White and Black color options.

Mate 9 has a 5.9-inch (1080×1920 px) screen, the Mate 9 Porsche Design comes with a 5.5-inch 2K AMOLED display, and comes with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory while the Mate 9 sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB memory. Both the phones are powered by Huawei’s home-brewed octa-core Kirin 960 processor clubbed with ARM Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. Both Huawei’s smartphones runs Android 7.0 Nougat-based EMUI.

The Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design sport a dual-camera setup on the rear with one 20-megapixel f/2.2 monochrome and another 12-megapixel f/2.2 RGB sensor. It also features optical image stabilization, a 4-in-1 hybrid autofocus (laser, phase-detect, depth, and contrast detection) and a dual-tone dual-LED flash. The rear cameras are capable of shooting 4K videos. On the front, both the phones come with an 8-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture and autofocus.

Both the phones are bundled with a big 4,000mAh battery and support Huawei’s SuperCharge technology. Here comes the pricing, the Mate 9 standard version has been priced at 699 Euros (appx. Rs. 51,612) while on the other hand the Mate 9 Porsche Design will cost you 1,395 Euros (appx. Rs. 1,02,991).
