LG G6, LG’s flagship smartphone; All you need to know

LG launched its flagship device on February 26 at MWC 2017 that was held in Barcelona. LG G6 is the first smartphone after Google’s Pixel to feature Google’s virtual assistant called Google Assistant. The company haven’t unveiled the smartphone’s price and availability details.

The smartphone sports 5.7-inch QHD+ (1440×2880 pixels) FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio which is longer and narrower than usual i.e. 16:9. Content creators like Amazon are working to make content compatible with 18:9 aspect ratio. Some apps and games will initially be available on Play Store like Temple Run 2: Lost Jungle, optimized for the aspect ratio. It’s a large screen smartphone with body size similar to 5.2-inch smartphone.

The smartphone will come pre-loaded with G6 game collection which will offer its LG G6 buyers in-game content worth $200. The collection will include- Temple Run 2, Spider-Man Unlimited, SimCity BuildIt, Cookie Jam, Crossy Road, and Genies & Gems. All these games are optimized for the 18:9 aspect ratio.




LG G6 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It is the first smartphone to support Dolby Vision video alongside HDR10 technology. There are about 90 movies available with Dolby Vision. It also sports 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC (digital to analogue converter) for enhanced audio playback. It comes in two storage options- 32GB & 64GB, which can also be expanded further up to 2TB via microSD card. It also sports fingerprint sensor on the rear side of the phone below the camera module.

It features dual rear cameras (13MP + 13MP), one for wide-angle photography with 125-degree lens and other one for regular photography with OIS 2.0 (optical image stabilization). On the front side, the smartphone sports 5MP autofocus camera with 100-degree wide angle lens and f/2.2 aperture. The device runs UX 6.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat and comes with an IP68-rating for dust and water resistance.

It supports Nano-SIM and packs 3300mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. It also comes assembled with copper heatpipe to dissipate heat and to prevent overheating. LG G6 comes packed with standard connectivity options such as WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, NFC, FM Radio, micro USB port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on board LG’s flagship device include- magnetometer, proximity, ambient light, accelerometer, and gyroscope. It will be available in Ice Platinum, Mystic White, and Astro Black colors.
