Recently, HBO got hacked and hackers claimed to have stolen 1.5TB of data including unaired episodes, scripts which was later confirmed by the entertainment network. And now, Game of Thrones unaired episode 4 from season 7 leaked online that has no connection with the recent hack.
The leaked episode of Game of Thrones was not supposed to come out until August 6, its actual air date. But somehow, it did and it seems that hackers are not behind the leak as they were able to steal the script of the unaired episode which they mentioned and the same was also surfaced online.
Alongside the script, hackers also leaked Ballers and Room 104 unaired episode. HBO has not revealed what damage hackers have caused but claimed that 1.5TB of data was stolen from its servers.
We checked the episode out and it is indeed episode 4 named “The Spoils of War” from season 7 of Game of Thrones, HBO’s fantasy drama series. The video footage carries two watermarks, one can be seen on the top left corner that says “For Internal Viewing Only” and another one is located at bottom right corner that reads “Star India Pvt Ltd” confirming that the leak has some internal connection.
Gadgets 360, an NDTV venture reported that the leak is connected to HBO’s recent hack and there were reports also that claimed hackers are going to leak more data this Sunday. But according to The Verge, HBO claimed that the leak has come from its international distribution partner Star India.
The episode first appeared on Reddit forum as one of its users shared the episode using Google Drive. Later, it was taken down by law enforcing authorities but they were too late as it was already shared with many users.
The leaked video footage of Game of Thrones’ unaired episode does not appear to be a finalized copy as it has a runtime of around 45 minutes compared to other episodes having a runtime of more than 50 minutes.
It’s not the first time that HBO has suffered a leak with Game of Thrones, to recall, the first four episodes from season 5 of Game of Thrones also got leaked including the one from season 6 which was leaked a day before its scheduled air date.
