Now it’s time to get nostalgic as the iconic rivalry of the cat and mouse duo is returning to theaters worldwide in February this year. After a wait of a lifetime, Warner Bros has finally released the trailer for Tom & Jerry movie, directed by Tim Story and written by Kevin Costello, based on cartoon characters created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.
The film will be releasing in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on February 19 which is a week prior to the United States where it is scheduled for February 26. US fans also have an option to stream the movie on HBO Max (US-exclusive). It will be released initially on February 11 in Singapore and Brazil and February 25 in Russia.
What’s the story?
After being kicked out from the house, separated, and wandering in the streets starving, the cat and mouse duo cross their paths in New York City and brings their battle to the city’s largest and finest hotel where Jerry has started living his life. The wedding planner and hotel employee “Kayla” hires TOM to get rid of Jerry as the hotel prepares for the “wedding of the century.”
The meetup of the duo reignites their never-ending battle which threatens to destroy Kayla’s career, the wedding, and the hotel itself. The story later uncovers an even bigger problem- a diabolical conspiracy of an ambitious staffer against all three of them.

Tom & Jerry stars Chloë Grace Moretz as Kayla, Michael Peña as Terrance, Colin Jost as Ben, Rob Delaney as Mr. DuBros, Ken Jeong as Jackie, Pallavi Sharda as the bride Preeta, and Jordan Bolger as Cameron. The film also features Patsy Ferran, Lil Rel Howery, Nicky Jam, and Bobby Cannavale in supporting roles. Voices for Tom and Jerry are provided by William Hanna, Mel Blanc, and June Foray through archival voice recordings.

The filmmakers described the upcoming live-action/comedy as:
“An eye-popping blend of classic animation and live-action, Tom and Jerry’s new big-screen adventure stakes new ground for the iconic characters and forces them to do the unthinkable… work together to save the day.”
The pandemic will affect the box office collection as most of the theaters are closed around the world and where they are open, are operating at 30-50 percent capacity including India. On the other hand, a nationwide lockdown is in effect in the United Kingdom where Tom & Jerry is scheduled to release on March 19, 2021, and so is the case with France (release set for March 5) where the government is enforcing night curfews and lockdowns across the country.
