CBSE Class 10 Board Exams Mandatory From Next Session; Will Launch Website For Students

The government made Class 10 CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) Board exam mandatory once again from the 2017-18 academic year. Union HRD (Humar Resources Development) Minister, Prakash Javadekar, told reporters on Monday after a meeting with the Rajasthan Education Minister that Class 10 board exam will no longer be optional.

“We will implement it from the 2017-2018 session. Not this year or in the next two months. The final decisions will be announced soon, it is under final consideration,” said HRD Minister, Javadekar.




Javadekar also said that state governments will be given authority to reintroduce class V and VIII board examinations too. For that, we will be pass the proposal to the cabinet and then in Parliament. “The decision to conduct class V and VIII board examinations will be left with the state,” said Prakash Javadekar.

“This is my answer to the high cost coaching institutes and the spate of suicides reported from IIT prep students,” said Javadekar.

According to Javadekar, government will also be introducing free online courses for IIT aspirants. The planned portal for students will be called “IIT PAL.” HRD Minister wants to improve the quality of education given in the schools nationwide. For that, he said, government will launch a website specially for students to provide them study materials, guidance by experts, and discussion on topics. Students will be allowed to ask questions related to their studies which will be answered by experts.

“Before the actual Joint Entrance Examination, it will have three four mock exams,” said Prakash Javadekar.
