Facebook Messenger Group Video Chat Feature Launched For Both App & Web

After launching its redesigned Messenger app and adding some new features recently, the company has now introduced Group Video Chat for its Messenger app as well as Web version, globally. Facebook has started rolling out the new feature worldwide, starting today. With the new feature, users will be able to video chat with more than a friend.

As we close the year, we’re thrilled to launch the most requested Messenger feature ever – the ability to video chat in groups.

You can see up to six people at a time in a video chat but up to 50 people can join in the conversation and choose just to listen via voice and camera. Once more than 6 people are on the call, just the dominant speaker is shown to all participants, said Facebook.

To start with Group Video Chat, you have to download and install latest version of Messenger. After that, open your existing group chat, or create a new one. You will see a video icon on the upper right corner of the screen, tap on that to start the group video chat and after that, everyone in the group will be notified to join in the conversation by just a single tap. “For an extra nudge, you can also directly ring just a few people or the whole group”, stated Facebook.

“This is the time of year to tell our friends and family how much we care about them and send best wishes for the year ahead. We’re delighted to bring you the ability to chat face-to-face with those who matter to you most, wherever they are,” said Facebook.
