Reddit user’s Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Catches Fire

Looks like the trouble isn’t over yet for Samsung as yet another report of their smartphone catching fire is coming from a Reddit user where it burned down on his nightstand. According to the user, he didn’t suffer any injuries or harm due to the fire.

In case you forgot, Samsung was in news earlier this year because of their last flagship smartphone Note 7 continuously catching fire one after the another. Things got worse when even several replacement units caught fire which led to Samsung permanently discontinuing their phone.

Now coming back to the latest report, According to the reddit user ReturnThroughAether, the phone caught fire while it was sitting idle on the nightstand. Before this, the device exhibited no problems with heating or with the battery. The user confirmed in one of the comments that he only used the original charger supplied with the phone. He has since talked to Samsung and his carrier (which seems to be AT&T from the logo on the back of the phone).

From the looks of it, it seems like it was the battery which exploded. Although this news of S6 Edge+ catching fire is not widespread like that of the Note 7 and seems like one of the rare cases. Still, it adds more to the damaged brand image of the Samsung after the Note 7 fiasco and things most certainly aren’t going their way at all.
