Facebook launched its first virtual reality app “Facebook 360”

Facebook has launched its first virtual reality based app, Facebook 360 for Gear VR users. Samsung Gear VR users can now live the reality by watching the 360 photos and videos posted on Facebook. According to the social media giant, more than one million 360 videos have been posted on Facebook till date and over 25 million 360 photos.

As of now, the app is only available for Gear VR users and the same can be downloaded from Oculus Store. “The app is an exciting new way to explore Facebook 360 photos and videos,” said Facebook.




The app features four feeds- Explore, Timeline, Following, and Saved. You can explore the 360 content from media companies, organizations, and individual creators right in the “Explore” tab while the “Following” tab will showcase 360 content from your friends or from people and pages you follow. You can catch up where you left off or start exploring your saved content in “Saved” feed. The last feed is “Timeline” which will contain your own 360 photos and videos you have uploaded.

You can also react to 360 content you like and share them on Facebook directly from the Facebook 360 app. Facebook has promised to add more social features soon.

“We look forward to seeing how people use the app to connect with the people and things they care about, and we’ll continue to improve the experience and hope to bring it to more platforms over time,” states Facebook.
