Microsoft launched Modern Keyboard with hidden fingerprint sensor

Microsoft has introduced an advanced keyboard named Modern Keyboard featuring modern day technology such as fingerprint sensor and inbuilt rechargeable battery. The accessory is available to buy from Microsoft online store at a price of $129.99. Microsoft has also launched Modern Mouse which has been priced at $49.99.

It is the successor of Surface Keyboard and the fingerprint scanner looks like any other key on the keyboard. “We iterated relentlessly to improve each layer, making sure they came together to create a flawless typing experience that felt like any other key,” said Microsoft.

The keyboard sports aluminum frame which makes the keyboard not only of the highest quality, but heavy and virtually indestructible. The keyboard can be used as either a wireless or wired interface. It comes with inbuilt rechargeable battery rated to deliver four months of battery life on full charge.

The fingerprint scanner comes embedded in the Windows Key on the right side of the keyboard and can be used to log into the system or websites using Windows Hello. To start using fingerprint scanner, users have to enable Windows Hello fingerprint authentication on their devices. The keyboard is compatible only with Windows 10 and latest versions of MacOS, iOS & Android.

For the keyboard to work as wireless interface, users need to ensure that their devices should have Bluetooth v4.0 and above. The wireless range of the Modern Keyboard is limited to 10 meters in open air and 5 meters in office environment. The company is offering 1-year limited warranty on the product.
