Xiaomi to roll out MIUI 9 in mid August to these devices

Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi has confirmed that it will start rolling out MIUI 9 in mid-August to all the eligible devices. The company is now recruiting beta testers for its MIUI 9 China ROM while the MIUI 9 Global ROM beta version will soon be made available.

If you are a developer or just love testing ROMs or a fan of MIUI then now is the time to apply. Download/ Install MIUI Forum App from Play Store and then tap on Recruitment after opening it. To become a beta tester for MIUI 9, you have to fill out the form asking for your device name/ model, the time range of using the smartphone, and then comes the reason block where you have to explain why you want to be a part of it. Apply before August 1 or you will miss the opportunity. Xiaomi will contact you via Forum PM to let you know if you’re selected.




Those who are applying must have QQ communication tool installed on their device and should be proficient in MIUI AND ROMs. You must have one of the eligible devices, check below if your device is listed.

Eligible Devices: Mi 6, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5s, Mi 5c, Mi 5, Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2/2s, Mi Mix, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Mi Note 2, Mi Note/Pro, Mi Pad 2, Mi Pad 1, Redmi Note 4X (MTK), Redmi Note 4X (SD), Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 3 (MTK), Redmi Note 3 (SD), Redmi Note, Redmi Pro, Redmi 4X, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime, Redmi 1S, and Redmi 1.

The beta update will first hit Mi 6, Redmi Note 4 (Qualcomm), and Redmi Note 4X among others. The smartphones that will be covered in the second batch are not yet been revealed.

MIUI 9 will be based on Android 7.0 Nougat however it will be revealed officially on July 26 at China National Convention Center alongside Mi 5X, successor to Mi 5. Mi 5X will be the first device to come pre-loaded with MIUI 9.
