LG launches Google Assistant-powered smart speaker, ThinQ

LG has announced a range of speakers ahead of CES 2018 which includes its debut smart speaker called ThinQ. LG has partnered with Google to integrate its AI-powered smart assistant called Google Assistant into ThinQ.

Alongside ThinQ smart speaker, the company has also announced some portable Bluetooth speakers, party speakers, and Dolby Atmos soundbars. LG is all set to showcase its 2018 audio products line-up at CES 2018 which is going to be held in Las Vegas. These speakers have been paired with Meridian Audio’s high-performance audio technology to deliver more natural and warm sound which the technology promises.

Starting with LG’s first smart speaker, ThinQ comes integrated with Google Assistant and also delivers powerful, high-quality sound utilizing Meridian Audio technology. The company claims that its smart speaker has the ability to recreate sounds that were originally recorded in the studio, just like what Google with Google Home Max has promised.

With Google Assistant built-in, you can control the smart speaker using your voice. Not just the speaker, you can also control your smart home appliances such as lights, air conditioners, TV, and more. LG itself has a range of smart home appliances that can be controlled using a voice app from LG called LG SmartThinQ.

The smart appliances from LG that you can buy today are dishwashers, air purifiers, refrigerators, vacuums, and dryers. The ThinQ smart speaker works as a voice-activated interface between you and your smart appliances. If you want to turn on a smart LG appliance, you can say “OK Google, talk to LG, turn on the air purifier.”

LG’s new SK10Y soundbar harness the power of Dolby Atmos technology using 5.1.2 channels and delivers 550W of powerful output. For true surround sound experience, you can place the set of speakers in a three-dimensional space like on ceiling and corners. The soundbar comes equipped with multiple speakers which include a pair of powerful up-firing speakers.  The soundbar also utilizes Meridian Audio technology that enhances user’s listening experience. SK10Y is compatible with high-quality lossless audio files to recreate sounds that were recorded in the studio.

LG also announced portable PK series speakers that also comes equipped with Meridian Audio’s advanced technologies to deliver powerful, high-quality audio experience. Compatible with Apt-X HD Bluetooth standard, users can stream 24-bit music over a wireless connection. The speakers also pack Dynamic Party Lighting that flashes to the beat.
