Military grade LG X4+ (Plus) rugged smartphone launched

LG has added another smartphone to its X series of smartphones called LG X4+ and the same has been launched in South Korea. X4+ is a rugged smartphone that comes with a military grade MIL-STD-810G rating and supports LG Pay mobile payment platform which was launched in the country last year.

The military standard rating that the smartphone comes with means it can withstand vibration, impact, low temperature, high temperature, thermal shock, and humidity. LG X4+ also include support for its mobile payment solution LG Pay which uses a Wireless Magnetic Communication (WMC) system to authenticate payments. Users can use the fingerprint scanner to confirm the payment. It accepts all major debit/ credit cards with a magnetic stripe.

In terms of specifications, LG X4+ sports 5.30-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Powering up the device is the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 425 SoC that comes coupled with Adreno 308 GPU and 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. The smartphone packs 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 2TB.


Camera department includes a 13MP rear autofocus sensor with 77-degree wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperture, and LED flash. On the front side, the rugged smartphone sports 5MP selfie camera with 100-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.4 aperture.

Another highlight of the smartphone apart from its toughness and LG Pay support is that it packs a dedicated DAC (digital to analog converter) for a Hi-Res 32-bit 192kHz audio output. There is also a fingerprint sensor which comes mounted on the rear panel of the smartphone. You can also use the fingerprint sensor to capture selfies or for taking screenshots.

It’s a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone that comes packed with 3000mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. Connectivity options onboard LG X4+ include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, v4.2, NFC, micro USB 2.0 port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, and magnetometer.

LG X4+ has been priced at KRW 300000 (approx Rs. 17,900 or $280) and is available in Lavender Violet and Moroccan Blue color options. You can buy the smartphone later this month via three mobile carriers in South Korea. There are no words on its availability in other international markets.
