LG Q70 with hole-in-display, MIL-STD 810G rating launched: Specifications

South Korean giant LG has launched its first hole-in-display smartphone in its home country, named LG Q70. The smartphone features a MIL-STD 810G rating, dedicated Google Assistant button, and triple rear camera setup.

The phone has been priced at KRW 548,900 (approx Rs. 32,550 or $455) and will start shipping from September 6, 2019. The company, as of now, is offering the smartphone in Mirror Black color option only. There ain’t any word on its availability in other global markets.

LG Q70 sports 6.4-inch FHD+ (2310×1080 pixels) hole-in FullVision display with a 18.5:9 aspect ratio and 398ppi pixel density. It is powered by a 64-bit 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 octa-core SoC paired with Adreno 612 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It offers 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.

The camera department includes AI-backed triple rear camera setup consisting of a 32MP ultra-high-resolution primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree lens, and 5MP depth camera (for bokeh effect) to extract depth of the scene and enable “precise out-of-focus capabilities in both pictures and videos.” On the front top left corner sits 16MP camera for taking selfies with AI (artificial intelligence) features.

The fingerprint sensor comes mounted on the rear panel below the camera module. Lg Q70 runs on Android 9 Pie and features a dedicated Google Assistant button, as mentioned earlier. It is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance and passed 14 tests to achieve MIL-STD 810G rating which includes falling, high/ low temperature, high humidity, vibration, and more. The phone supports LG Pay, Google Lens, and Q Lens.

The phone packs sound enhancement technologies in order to deliver high-quality sounds and to make playing games and watching videos more immersive. It supports HI-Fi Quad DAC (digital to analog converter) that converts digital music into an analog signal, allowing it to be amplified without loss, delivering high-quality sound close to the original sound with headphones, earphones, or speakers connected to the mobile. The phone also supports DTS:X 3D surround sound audio codec.

LG Q70 comes packed with 4,000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, FM Radio, NFC, and USB Type-C 2.0 port. Sensors on the phone include proximity, accelerometer, ambient light, magnetometer, and gyroscope.
