Dani Alves Barcelona footballer arrested over sexual assault charges

Former Barcelona football player Dani Alves was detained by police in Spain over sexual assault charges.

Dani Alves was arrested after a woman claimed that he sexually assaulted her at a nightclub in Barcelona on New Year’s eve.

However, Alves denied the accusation, was taken into custody by the police and appeared before the judge who then ordered him to be remanded without bail. He will remain in custody until trial. A date has still not been specified yet.

“Yes, I was in that place, with more people, enjoying myself. And people who know me know that I love to dance. I was dancing and enjoying myself without invading the space of others,” Dani said.

“I don’t know who that lady is. You arrive at a bathroom and you don’t have to ask who’s there. I have never invaded anyone’s space. How am I going to do it with a woman or a girl? No, for God’s sake.” Dani Alves added.

Mexican side Pumas have reacted by terminating the ex-Barcelona star’s contract, which was set to expire in July 2023.
