The 23-minute Drake‘s film Please Forgive Me is available now as an Apple Music Exclusive. It’s an action-packed short film initially scheduled to be released on September 30 on Apple Music.
The film stars Drake in a lead role. It also features Popcaan, Soni Chidiebere, Fanny Naguesha, and Kyla Reid. The plot looks similar to ‘Indecent Proposal’. Fanny Naguesha plays Drake’s girlfriend who has been offered $1 million by a millionaire to spend a night with him. It then turns into a action flick.
The film includes seven songs from Drake’s chart-topping 2016 album, Views, with the original music from Noah ’40’ Shebib. The film is directed by Anthony Mandler who has also directed Drake’s “Over Me”, “Miss Me”, and “Fancy” videos. Anthony Mandler has also worked with Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Jay Z, Taylor Swift, and other high profile singers.
Larry Jackson, Apple Music Head of Content, co-wrote the script of the film with Mandler. He also produced the film. Please Forgive Me was filmed in a week’s time in Soweto Township in Johannesburg, South Africa. The film is inspired by Drake’s album “Views” which remained No. 1 on Billboard 200 for 12 weeks in a row.
The film is the second video to accompany Drake’s album Views since the release. The only which was released to support his album was “Child’s Play”. Since then no video has been released. The film features two songs – “One Dance” and “Controlla” from the album as the music videos. Other tracks like “9”, “Views”, “Weston Road Flows”, and “Summer’s Over Interlude” are also featured in the film.
Please Forgive Me will remain exclusive to Apple Music only.
