120 Dead After Patna-Indore Express Train Derails Near Kanpur

120 people declared dead till now after Patna-Indore Express train gone out of control and ran off the track this morning in Kanpur area of Uttar Pradesh. More than 150 injured as 14 coaches of the train derailed. Railway officials told that the number of casualties could rise.

Latest Update: Death Toll Rises To 143 In Kanpur Train Tragedy

The accident happened near Pukhrayan area in Kanpur Dehat district at around 3AM in the morning. After it all happened, a team of doctors and senior railway officials reached the spot immediately. People were rescued and injured were sent to the nearby hospitals.





Two of the 14 coaches are heavily damaged and most of the casualties that were reported are from these two coaches only. Stranded passengers were moved to Malasa Station from the accident site. A special train was also arranged from Malasa station.

“Anguished beyond words on the loss of lives due to the derailing of the Patna-Indore express. My thoughts are with the bereaved families,” tweeted PM Narendra Modi.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu was monitoring the situation very closely. National Disaster team was also sent to the location of accident.

“Enquiry team will start investigation for cause of accident immediately All necessary assistance provided to the affected,We are taking care,” tweeted Suresh Prabhu.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has also asked neighboring officials to report the location with all the resources for faster relief operations.
