India, America Sign MoU On Cyber-Security Cooperation

United States of America and India have signed a MoU (memorandum of understanding) on cooperation in all the cyber-security matters. The MoU was signed in New Delhi on Wednesday according to which both the countries will share information when needed and work jointly on inter connected cyber-security related issues.

The MoU was signed by Aruna Sundararajan, secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and Richard Verma, US Ambassador to India.




Here’s what the statement reads- “India and the US have signed a memorandum of understanding between the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT- In) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology of the government of India and the Department of Homeland Security, government of the United States of America on cooperation in the field of cyber-security.”

“The MoU intends to promote closer co-operation and the exchange of information pertaining to the cyber security in accordance with the relevant laws, rules and regulations of each economy and this MoU and on the basis of equality, reciprocity and mutual benefit,” it added.

Both the countries are already cooperating on all the cyber-security related issues as they have signed the same MoU back in 2011. It’s just a renewal to continue the cooperation in the field of cyber-security.
