Travelers travelling via direct flights between Morocco and the United States of America will be allowed to carry laptops and other banned electronic devices starting July 13, stated Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc Airlines.
The reason behind lifting the restriction is not clear yet but it could be because of the advanced security and screening processes that US Department of Homeland Security has adopted. They recently lifted off the ban on six of the airlines.
Direct flights to United States are operated only by Royal Air Maroc airlines from Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport to New York and Washington D.C.
To recall, United States banned carrying laptops on flights originating at 10 airports in eight countries in the month of March. The list included- Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
Now, it has started lifting the restrictions after adopting enhanced security measures. In a recent statement, US Department of Homeland Security said to review requests by the remaining airlines to have the ban lifted.
According to Saudia, Saudi Arabian Airlines, the ban is expected to be lifted on flights from Jeddah and Riyadh by July 19 while the EgyptAir airlines expected it to be removed on July 12.
