Samsung has launched another Galaxy series smartphone called Galaxy C8 featuring facial recognition technology that scans users’ face to unlock the device. The smartphone comes in two storage variants- 3GB/ 32GB and 4GB/ 64GB. The company has not yet revealed price and availability details. 

Samsung Galaxy C8 sports 5.5-inch FHD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. It is powered by octa core (4 cores @1.69GHz & 4 cores @ 2.39GHz) SoC paired with your choice of RAM i.e. 3GB or 4GB. As already mentioned, Samsung is offering two storage options 32GB and 64GB, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The company has not specified the processor name and also the Android OS version that device runs.

It features dual camera setup, 13MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture plus 5MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture, with autofocus and LED flash. While on the front side, Galaxy C8 sports 16MP selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash for better low-light photography. These are the camera details Samsung has shared as of now.


Galaxy C8 comes integrated with facial recognition technology which Samsung is promoting heavily these days. With this feature on board, users can unlock the device by scanning their faces. You don’t need to scan your fingerprint or input password or draw pattern, just put your face in front of the device to unlock it. If you don’t like this method, there’s also fingerprint scanner placed underneath the home button at the front. Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant, also comes preloaded with the smartphone allowing you to communicate with the device. Galaxy C8 also sports always-on-display to show important notifications.

It’s a dual SIM hybrid (SIM 1 + SIM 2/ microSD) smartphone that comes packed with 3000mAh battery rated to deliver up to 329 hours of standby time. In terms of connectivity options, the smartphone includes 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ GLONASS, Micro USB, and 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on the smartphone include proximity, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and RGB sensor.

Samsung has launched Galaxy C8 in China with no words on its availability in other markets. We will update this post when we have more details.
