The 2022 highest-grosser Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to release on the OTT platform Prime Video in India. The sequel to Tom Cruise’s classic hit Top Gun (1986) will start streaming right after Christmas on December 26, 2022.
Prime Video announced the release date for the film on its official Twitter handle: “All set to take off on a new adventure and a nostalgia ride like never experienced before, #TopGunMaverickOnPrime, December 26.”
Produced under the banner of Paramount Pictures, the film will be available to watch in India in six languages- Hindi, English (Original), Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Top Gun: Maverick was previously available to rent online via Prime Video Store.
The Joseph Kosinski-directed sequel is set over 30 years after the events of Tony Scott-directed Top Gun (1986) and finds Pete “Maverick” Mitchell training a crew of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission.
After thirty years, Maverick (Tom Cruise) is still pushing the envelope as a top naval aviator, but must confront ghosts of his past when he leads TOP GUN’s elite graduates on a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those chosen to fly it.

Released on May 27 this year, Top Gun: Maverick is the highest-grossing movie of the year 2022 with a worldwide box-office collection standing at $1.488 billion (approx Rs. 12250 crores). Out of $1.488 billion, the film grossed approx $5.83 million (Rs. 48.14 crores) in India. The film is ranked 11th on the list of highest-grossing films of all time and received many honors and nominations across various award programs.
The film stars Tom Cruise reprising his role as US Naval aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell alongside Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, Monica Barbaro, Jay Ellis, Greg Tarzan Davis, Danny Ramirez, Bashir Salahuddin, and Charles Parnell in various roles.
