Google’s UPI-based payments app “Tez” launched in India

Google has launched its UPI-based digital payments app in India called Tez allowing you to make payments and send and receive money and the best part is that it’s really simple to use and has a great interface. Google Tez app is now available on both Android and iOS app stores.

To get started, all you have to do is to download and install the app from the app store, set the PIN or you can set the same password or pattern you use to unlock the phone without the need to remember any extra PIN and then link your bank accounts to Tez over UPI (Unified Payments Interface), that’s it. You can now start sending and receiving money from anyone or transfer money from one bank account to another. Money transfer limit is set to Rs. 1 lakh in one day and up to 20 transfers in one day which is same across all UPI apps.

The app comes protected with multiple layers of security and Tez Shield that works 24×7 to help detect fraud, prevent hacking, and verify your identity. As UPI-based app users already know, the transactions are protected with UPI PIN which is same across all the UPI-based payments app and the app is protected with your fingerprint or any other screen lock method you use or you can set a separate Google PIN to lock the app.

Google Tez app features Cash Mode which according to Google lets you send money instantly to another Tez user nearby without needing to share your personal data like bank account details or phone number. You can use Cash Mode to pay at shops or any other person or business that provides service in exchange for money. You can also shop or pay for services online, all you have to do is to select Tez during checkout, however, if you don’t see the Tez app listed then you can opt out to pay via UPI and then enter Tez UPI ID aka Virtual Payment Address (VPA). UPI payment option is accepted at all major online retailers such as Jet Airways, Flipkart, Amazon, PVR, Dominos, RedBus, and BookMyshow.

Send money and earn Tez Scratch Cards to win up to Rs. 1,000 with each transaction to a unique user and be eligible to win Rs. 1 lakh every week with Lucky Sundays. You don’t have to apply coupons in order to win, just use the app and if you win, Google will transfer the amount directly to your linked bank account.

It works with all major banks such as Axis Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC, ICICI, Yes Bank, and Punjab National Bank, here is the complete list. The app also supports different languages like English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. New features such as paying through credit and debit card on Tez and pay and set reminders for recurring bills will soon be added, claimed Google.
