Citadel, executively produced by Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony Russo) famous for their work in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), is all set to arrive on Amazon’s streaming platform Prime Video on April 28, 2023. The series stars Richard Madden who played Robb Stark on Game of Thrones and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead roles.
The American action-spy thriller Citadel is created by Josh Appelbaum and Bryan Oh. The first season of the series will consist of six episodes. Two episodes will be made available to stream on the day of release while the other four will arrive weekly every Friday through May 26.
The series stars Richard Madden as Mason Kane, Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Nadia Sinh, Stanley Tucci as Bernard Orlick, and Lesley Manville as Dahlia Archer, and more. The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Midnight Radio.
Prime Video described the plot of the series as follows- “Eight years ago, Citadel, an independent global spy agency, was destroyed by a new syndicate, Manticore. With their memories wiped, elite agents Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) barely escaped with their lives. Eight years later, Mason’s former colleague, Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), asks for his help to prevent Manticore from establishing a new world order.”

Citadel’s original language is English however it will also be available to stream in five Indian languages- Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Citadel – A global franchise
The Citadel series coming in April this year will mark the debut of a “global franchise” meaning there will be multiple localized versions of Citadel, traversing the globe with interconnected stories. Calling it a Citadel Universe won’t be wrong here.
According to Amazon Studios, “each Citadel series is locally created, produced, and filmed in-region, and stars top talent, forming a distinct global franchise”.
Two such Citadel series are already underway in India and Italy. The Indian version of the series stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles and has already started filming. It will be directed by the duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK known for the hit Indian series “The Family Man“. The Italian version of Citadel, on the other hand, stars Matilda De Angelis.
