On Friday, Vivo announced the launch of two new smartphones in China, the Vivo X Fold 2 and the Vivo X Flip, expanding its foldable range. Reports and leaks had been circulating in the weeks leading up to the launch of the Vivo foldable, as several foldable smartphones had already been released in the first few months of this year, and it had been eagerly awaited.
Both phones are available in two storage configuration options and three color variants each and will be sold in China soon.
Vivo X Fold 2, Vivo X Flip price and availability
The Vivo X Fold 2 comes in three color options: Shadow Black, China Red, and Azure Blue. The phone is available in two storage configuration options: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, priced at CNY 8,999 (approximately Rs. 1,07,500), and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model, which is priced at CNY 9,999 (approximately Rs. 1,19,400).
The Vivo X Flip is offered in Diamond Black, Ling Purple, and Silk Gold color options. It is also available in two storage configuration options: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, priced at CNY 5,999 (approximately Rs. 71,600), and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, priced at CNY 6,699 (approximately Rs. 80,000).
The Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip will be released in China on April 28, as confirmed by Vivo. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the global or Indian release of these models.
Vivo X Fold 2 features and specifications
The Vivo X Fold 2 is equipped with an 8.03-inch E6 AMOLED LTPO inner display that has a resolution of 2,160 x 1,916 pixels. The display has a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits. The inner display panel also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for an enhanced viewing experience.
The Vivo X Fold 2 comes with an outer screen featuring a 6.53-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels. The outer display has a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits, and it comes with a SCHOTT UTG glass cover for protection.
The Vivo X Fold 2 runs on the Android 13 operating system out-of-the-box, with OriginOS 3 on top. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.
The Vivo X Fold 2 has a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP primary camera with OIS support and a Zeiss T* lens coating, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens. The phone also has a 16MP selfie camera in a centered hole-punch slot on the outer display panel and an in-house imaging chip V2.
The Vivo X Fold 2 features a 4,800mAh battery with 120W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse charging, along with a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner on both inner and outer panels. Connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax, Bluetooth v5.3 LE, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port with stereo speakers.
Vivo X Flip features and specifications
The Vivo X Flip features a 6.74-inch AMOLED inner display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2,520 × 1,080, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and high-frequency PWM dimming of 1,920Hz. The outer 3-inch AMOLED screen has a resolution of 682 x 422 pixels, a 60Hz refresh rate, and curved edges.
The outer display can be used for various tasks, such as music playback, quick camera access, and chatbox viewing. The mirror application opening feature allows users to access apps on the outer display without opening the inner screen.
The phone has a TUV Rhineland certification for folding durability of up to 500,000 times. A Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset powers it and it comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS3.1 internal storage. The phone runs on Android 13-based OriginOS 3.
A dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens equips the Vivo X Flip. The front-facing camera is a 32-megapixel sensor, located in a centered hole-punch cutout on the top of the inner display.
In terms of battery life, the Vivo X Flip houses a 4,400mAh battery with support for 44W fast charging. The phone also features connectivity options such as 5G and 4G networks, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax, Bluetooth v5.3 LE, and GPS, with a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
